Prince of Mewar’s Initiatives To Transform The Life Of Udaipur

India has contributed to many brave warriors whose great legends have inspired us. One of them, Maharana Pratap Singh, is considered the first Indian freedom fighter as he resisted Akbar’s attempts at conquest. His successor and scion of the 1,500-year-old Mewar family, Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar of Udaipur, honours his dynasty through his activities.

Lakshyaraj Singh is a Philanthropist, Educationist, Sports Patron, Business Leader and Six times Guinness World Records Holder.

Inspiration

Lakshyaraj was brought up, with respect and reverence for his illustrious family heritage. He grew up hearing stories about his brave ancestors and their wonderful customs. Maharana Bhagwat Singh Mewar, his paternal grandfather, was a living example of the importance of giving back to the community while upholding moral and ethical standards, and he had a profound impact on him.

Education

Lakshyaraj finished his schooling at Mayo College in Ajmer, Rajasthan. His passion for cricket made him choose Australia for his further studies. Lakshyaraj received his Bachelor of Commerce from the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School in Australia. He has completed a Professional Development Programme from Cornell Nanyang Institute of Hospitality Management in addition to the University of New England’s Bachelor of Commerce in Hospitality and Tourism programme.

Initial Phase

Lakshyaraj started working as a waiter after completing his education. During this time, he worked in many hotels and cafes in Australia. Returning to Udaipur, he started growing the family business.

The Executive Director Of HRH Group

The legendary Jagmandir Island Palace restoration was his first project. Between 2006 and 2007, under his direction, Jagmandir Island Palace strengthened its position as one of the world’s most prestigious wedding locations. Lakshyaraj Singh restored the Fateh Prakash Palace into a magnificent hotel and provided the visitors with the authentic way of life and furnishings that were upheld during the reign of the Maharanas of Mewar. He aims to establish Udaipur as one of the most renowned cities in the world for its aesthetic appeal.

Promoter Of Sports

He contributes to the growth and development of the Maharana Mewar Public School in Udaipur. The school managed by him has been selected as the “Best School in Udaipur” by reputed organisations. He continues to be a dedicated sports administrator, supporting cricketers, young swimmers, competitors, and badminton players from Rajasthan and Udaipur.

Helping Hands In The Pandemic

He took the initiative to organise the distribution of hygienically packed food grains, sanitisers, and masks in the rural areas during the lockdown. He donated an ambulance to the Indian Army stationed at Eklingji Cantonment, Udaipur, during the second wave of Covid-19. He started the initiative to provide food and cereals for the poor and stray animals with the help of the Udaipur Superintendent of Police.

Vastra Daan Campaign

Vastra Daan campaign began as a localised initiative collecting old clothes for the underprivileged. On March 9th, 2019, he conducted a donation drive across India and several other nations, collecting over 329250 items of clothing. The campaign reached out to about 120 schools, 15 institutions, and about 30 NGOs. Twelve Nations, including Australia, the USA, Oman, Sri Lanka, and the UAE, donated money.

Shiksha Protsahan Abhiyaan

He significantly improved the quality of life for thousands of pupils who were denied access to various educational resources. He coordinated the donation of school supplies.

Vriksh hi Jeevan Abhiyaan

Lakshyaraj Singh conducted a planting drive in Udaipur in which 4035 saplings were planted in one minute. He also organised events donating sweaters, personal hygiene products, and hunger relief kits.

Honours

For these campaigns, he holds six world records. Lakshyaraj Singh was honoured with the 7th Bharat Gaurav Award at Parliament in London’s UK House of Commons for inspiring the nation’s youth. He has received commemorative awards, MICE awards, National Tourism Awards, and assistance from FHRAI over the years.

In addition to serving as President of the Maharana Pratap Smarak Samiti in Udaipur, Prince Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar is also a managing committee member of the Hotel & Restaurant Association of Northern India, a member of the executive committee of The Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Association of India, a member of the Indian Heritage Hotels Association, an advisor to the Imperial Chamber of Commerce & Industry, an honorary member of the Udaipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry and more.

Lakshyaraj Singh preserves long-standing customs and ideals. His constant commitment has brought to light many challenges affecting the rural and urban dwellers of the region. To improve the standard of living and quality of life of the local people, Lakshyaraj undertook many programs related to education, health, environment and other issues. He hopes that through his efforts, he can elevate Udaipur to the status of the most beautiful city in the world.
