He didn’t choose the tech life, the tech life chose him : Tech Burner

Shlok Srivastava is an Indian social media influencer famous for his YouTube channel ‘Tech Burner’ which features interesting videos on technology. He was born into a middle-class family from New Delhi and had no business background. He is now one of the most influential tech reviewers, with over 9.7 million subscribers on his YouTube channel and 2.2 million Instagram followers. Creating Videos

Shlok excelled in school and was always fascinated by technology and gadgets. He began making videos and uploading them to YouTube using his father’s laptop while studying in 10th grade.


He dreamt of getting admission to the Indian Institute of Technology. He worked hard and attended coaching classes. However, he failed the exam. Instead of IIT, Shlok enrolled in SRM University.

Tech Burner

In 2014, he joined the SRM University in Chennai to study B Tech in Mechanical Engineering. His college education taught him a lot about technology and computers. Studying in SRM, he assisted his friend in setting up his smart watch and thus commenced the journey of tech-based video making and uploading. Thus he started the channel, ‘Tech Burner’. Shlok posted one video per week, but didn’t get much appreciation.

The Tech Burner


He went on to act, design posters, and work for non-profit organisations. But the constant failures never dampened his desire to succeed. His confidence grew as he tried new things. He was offered a job in a design firm. Shlok declined because he wanted to focus more on his YouTube channel, which was growing in popularity.

Growth Phase

Instead of dwelling on his failures, he used his time to rethink and analyse how to improve things. He noticed that making informative videos drew more attention. He researched how to use his videos to teach others and how to use technology to help others while having fun. Shlok began to create videos in English and later switched to Hindi after discovering that he could easily communicate with people in Hindi. Shlok formed a team of twenty men to help him. As a result, his channel expanded quickly.

He creates videos on general awareness of electronic gadgets, such as tricks to protect laptops, how to customise iPhones, tips on saving battery charge on phones etc.

Burner Media, his company, created the videos. Aside from these, he owns companies like BurnerClips, TechBurnerShorts, ShlokSrivastava, BurnerBits, Overlays Clothing, and apps such as BurnerGuard, FreshWalls, BurnerScanner, reWalls, and BurnerBits, as well as have websites too.

The Technology Influencer


Through his channel Tech Burner,he hopes to make technology simple, and entertaining. According to Shlok, the drawback of technology is that it is not accessible to ordinary people and its subtleties are not understood. As a result, they try to point out how to reach every segment of society and bring complex technologies to people.

For the past eight years, Shlok Srivastava has been making YouTube videos. His Tech Burner channel has over 9.7 million subscribers and millions of monthly viewers. He had been ambitious since he was a child. The constant failures throughout his life did not deter him. He never pursued a technical profession. However, he was successful in providing such content. He excels in technology and is well-known solely for how he discussed technology and created videos. Shlok Srivastava was invited to give a TEDx talk at Manipal University Jaipur in November 2019 and was named one of Forbes’ 30 under 30 in 2022.
