From The Family Of Entrepreneurs

Namita Thapar was born on March 21, 1977, into a business family in Pune, Maharashtra. Her father, Mr Sathish Mehta, is the founder of Emcure Pharmaceuticals. Namita is married to Mr Vikas Thapar, a businessman, and the couple has two sons, Vir Thapar and Jai Thapar.

Educational Background 

Namita Thapar attended schooling in Pune, Maharashtra, and afterwards graduated in commerce from Savitribai Phule University. She also earned a degree in chartered accounting from The Institute Of Chartered Accountants Of India. Later, Namita Thapar completed her MBA at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.


She received an offer to work as the finance lead at Guidant Corporation, an American manufacturer of medical devices, after earning her MBA. After six years, she returned to India and began working as CFO at Emcure.  She currently serves as Emcure Pharmaceuticals’ Executive Director.

She is the CEO of Incredible, a company promoting entrepreneurship skills among kids between 11 and 18. They conduct classes in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Pune, and Chennai.

‘Uncondition Yourself with Namita’ is a distinctive YouTube chat show about women’s health that she started during the Covid pandemic to dispel taboos and stigmas around women’s health.


Namita Thapar has won several notable honours, including The Economic Times 40 Under 40 Award, Barclays Hurun Next Gen Leader Recognition, Economic Times 2017 Women Ahead List and World Women’s Leadership Congress Super Achiever Award.

Thapar collaborates on initiatives like the Champions of Change Programme, Digital Health Task Force and the Women Entrepreneurship Platform at NITI Aayog. She serves on the regional advisory board of the India Fuqua School of Business, the Mumbai Board of Trustees, and the Young Presidents Organisation.

Namita Thapar is one of the sharks of the popular reality show ‘Shark Tank Season 2’, on Sony LIV and Sony Entertainment Television. It displays entrepreneurs pitching their ideas to sharks or investors, who decide whether to support their enterprise.
