Namita Thapar was born on March 21, 1977, into a business family in Pune, Maharashtra. Her father, Mr Sathish Mehta, is the founder of Emcure Pharmaceuticals. Namita is married to Mr Vikas Thapar, a businessman, and the couple has two sons, Vir Thapar and Jai Thapar.

Namita Thapar attended schooling in Pune, Maharashtra, and afterwards graduated in commerce from Savitribai Phule University. Career
She received an offer to work as the finance lead at Guidant Corporation, an American manufacturer of medical devices, after earning her MBA. After six years, she returned to India and began working as CFO at Emcure. She currently serves as Emcure Pharmaceuticals’ Executive Director.
